About Us

Caledonia House Bed & Breakfast is owned and operated by your hosts Belinda Goody & Dee Brodie.

Belinda was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Port Charlotte, Florida on the Gulf Coast.  She spent her summers at the beach and became a certified scuba diver at age 13.  She joined the US Air Force in 1990 as a Weather Specialist and later retrained as a Paralegal.  She separated from active duty in 2000 and returned to Colorado as a member of the Air Force Reserves and began her own consulting business as a Forensic Meteorologist (See www.wxornot.com).

Dee was born and raised in
Campbeltown, Scotland, also known as "the wee toon" and the home of Springbank Whisky

This untouched part of Scotland is located on the remote western coast of the Kintyre Peninsula in Scotland.  Dee was a tradesman at the Campbeltown Shipyard and began coming to the U.S. on holiday in 1997 with his friends.  Dee decided to move to Colorado in 2000 and began his own business as a fabricator.

In 2004, Dee & Belinda ran into each other and realized their mutual yearning to return to a life near the sea, in a small close-knit community where they could grow as individuals and nurture their entrepreneurial spirits together.  They realized the perfect opportunity to do this was to start a Bed & Breakfast, but where?

After a trip to Scotland in 2006, Belinda realized the Oregon coastal area had a very similar climate and coastline to that of Dee's beloved Scotland.  They decided to take a trip to Oregon in February 2007.  They traveled nearly all 500 miles of the coast and found the perfect house, in the perfect location.  It was as if it was meant to be!

They moved to Oregon in May 2007 and began renovating this 1945 cottage along the Pacific Coast Highway moving ever closer to realizing their dream.

"We wanted to share the beauty and history of Scotland with our friends, family and visitors in a tasteful and relaxed atmosphere and we very much enjoy meeting new people, cooking and sharing a laugh.   While both of us have been to some very exotic places in our travels, neither of us had ever been to Oregon.  Like many people, it was on our "to do" list, but when we arrived, we knew this was where we should be.  We left the "big city" in favor of a relaxing and simple existence in a beautiful wee town, with the added benefit of meeting new and exciting people.  What more could we ask for?!"

Belinda & Dee hope you will join them at their Scottish-inspired Bed & Breakfast along the stunning shores of the Oregon coast.
